i've wanted to go to art basel miami for years. and every december, without fail, a scheduling conflict has gotten in my way (who remembers grandma party?!). this december though! this december i live just up the street from the action, and i'm dating an artist who's never missed a basel. it's been on our calendar for months, and we made a whole day of it saturday for our seventh date of christmas. it was a crowded, beautiful, rainbow-hued doozy of a date. we started at some of mark's favorite galleries in wynwood, home of those walls i love so much, zig-zagged across miami, and closed down the convention center well after sunset. we saw an overwhelming amount of incredible work; it was such an intense thing to finally experience. i got goosebumps knowing the walls had been painted just hours before i saw them, and i was humbled to find myself face to face with a basquiat. it was the longest, loveliest day, and the photos i snapped don't do it justice! days like saturday are my favorite kind with mark. we set off for one adventure that always leads to a few more, walk until our legs ache, and laugh when we realize how much we've done in an afternoon. so glad for these bright moments with my guy.
