12 dates of christmas: ICE!

last year mark and i didn't see each other at all between thanksgiving and the first week of january (cue the awwwwww), and i remember telling him on the phone one night, "next year i want to do 12 dates of christmas!"  lucky for him, a girlfriend never forgets...

our first christmas-y date came early this year, but we had the opportunity for such an epic kickoff to the holiday ROMANCE the second week in november, we couldn't say no.  (remember my woeful tale of throwing out my back at gaylord palms resort?  ta-da!)  we went to this year's ICE! installation in orlando, which, to completely copy+paste from their website, is "florida's favorite frigid christmas tradition, with over 20,000 square-feet of frosty 9-degree bliss played out in a winter wonderland of exciting hand-carved sculptures."  dude, this ice cube bonanza is INSIDE the hotel.  we walked into a dark waiting room, were handed gnarly blue puffy parkas, and then hung out with 2 million pounds of ice for awhile.  it was actually really impressive and totally surreal.  my favorite sculptures were the giant statue of liberty and eiffel tower, to say nothing of that crazy ice slide and its back-breaking ways.  mark was drawn to these regal-looking clear candelabras at the end; obviously the more sophisticated half of this duo.  nothing's cuter than a cold nosed boyfriend, i tell you.  just looking at these photos now, i can feel the icy air in my lungs!  so much fun.  happy december, and happy dating!
